Why do not add in to your ImperfectDiet a Jam toast for breakfast full of vitamins, fibre and energy to start the day with a proper boost.
I love to create a batch of blackcurrant jam with the fruit I harvest from my 2 blackcurrant bushes. Look how amazing it is the nature that with 2 plants, that to be fair take minimum care apart from harvest, I am able to create a batch of jars for the full year and of course being able to share it with friends and family.

- My berries growing in mid summer just before ripening
It is very easy to make, only need to wash your berries, chuck them in the pan and stir them in to a medium heat until they broke down, once they are boiling, add the same amount of sugar than berries and cook during 15 minutes until the jam sets -what does it mean?
You will know when your jam is ready when taking a spoon in a cold plate and placing it in the fridge for 5 minutes the jam makes a solid/thick layer of gel. That means that the chemical reactions have finished and you have cerated an amazing jam using the natural pectin from the fruit.
I generally add some spirit (whisky, gin, just add your favourite) and some citric juice/peel. All this combinations will create an unique jam.

The most amazing thing it is that you do not need to have these plants in your home, you just need to have a walk in your local foot path and you will find thousands of brambles in the sides (Blackberries), fruit that at the end of the day will make you an amazing jam too.
You can customise your jam as much as you like, blending it, adding mixes of fruits or spices. You can keep it more liquid or more solid just as easy as you prefer.
I leave here how to make the jam, but if you want to keep it for all year round remember you will need to preserve it in a jar. Sterilising & introducing your jam on them to ensure all the bacteria are not going to spoil you precious jam.
Put a big pan with boiling water, simmer your jars during 10 minutes, take them out and without contaminate them fill them with your jam. Close them and simmer them again 15 minutes in boiling water. When it is done correctly you just need to check that the seal it is correctly closed (when you can not pop the lid (If pops open it and cook it again- Could be when you are recycling jars that the seal is broken- Sometimes it is worth just use another jar)).
I know it is difficult to imagine how to do it if you never have done it before, but do not be worry, shortly I will create a post explaining how to sterilise jars.
In conclusion a homemade healthy breakfast that last all year in your pantry and it is a lovely activity to do with friends and family. I absolutely encourage you to try it and remember any query just contact me and I will help you.
